Jewelry Designer: Catherine Angiel Jewelry

Nov 14, 2012 by

If you’re in LA today, make a stop at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills and check out my friend Catherine Angiel’s gorgeous jewelry line…

Catherine Angiel’s edgy jewelry line is strongly influenced by the streets of New York. Being born and raised in the city, Catherine was a part of the underground music and club scene in the 80s and 90s. As a drummer, she played in some of the most iconic clubs, including CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City. She used these experiences to develop her now signature, renegade style of fine jewelry.

Inspiration came in the form of graffiti, tattoos and rock and roll. Catherine translated street art into high art through the use of innovative materials and designs. Her ground-breaking work, combining black and white diamonds with a delicate and sophisticated hand, was new to the fine jewelry arena.

In 1993 Catherine opened her hip-edgy retail store in New York’s Greenwich Village, Catherine has been recognized by her industry, winning many awards, including the prestigious “Innovation Award” presented by the Jewelers Association. She has also been featured on the cover of Newsweek and her inspiring life story was filmed for a television documentary about women in business.

Today, Catherine Angiel has a loyal celebrity following, and her work is covered by fashion magazines, stylists, and is frequently seen on the red carpet.

Her work continues to push the boundaries of jewelry design. Each piece is hand-crafted in the New York workshop with Catherine overseeing every step. Unique shaped gemstones, such as briolette and rose cut diamonds, are complemented by her atypical choice of precious metals. Leading the way with black diamonds, she is now experimenting with other unusual colored diamonds, including grey, brick and burnt orange. Her signature style balances powerful rocker chic with an exquisite delicacy of execution.

Her jewelry has graced countless covers…

My vibe is all about breaking the rules; whether it’s in my music, my jewelry or my life. I’ve always been a renegade.

FASHION’S NIGHT OUT!

Sep 7, 2012 by

For those of you who don’t know what “FASHION’S NIGHT OUT” is… It’s an amazing celebration of fashion! Every year this event happens, and the most stylish fashionistas all come out to celebrate with champagne, music, delectable delights, and lots of shopping. Because I reside in Beverly Hills, I’m very fortunate to get invited to all the Fashion’s Night Out parties in the Golden Triangle 😉

This year I attended Neiman Marcus’ and Saks Fashion’s Night Out event. Two words, “Absolutely Amazing!” Many of the socialites and celebs came out to play. Last year Paula Abdul and a few other Starlets attended the Saks F.N.O., and that was sure memorable. This year I was right next to Larry King shopping at Neiman Marcus! I also ran into one of my favorite Swedish models, AnnaMaria Mostrom. Stores had models strutting the runway, stairway, you name it. And Dj’s played great music to enhance the shopping experience for all! Fun Fun Fun!

Chadwick Bell’s Midnight Rose Collection Fall 2012

Sep 5, 2012 by

Long time friend, NYC-based designer-Chadwick Bell has launched a women’s collection that is ooooh so Dangerously Sexy. For his alluring 2012 Fall Collection, Chadwick Bell was inspired by Arlene Gottfriend’s-Midnight and Picasso’s-Boy with Pipe. His daring choice of colors, fabrics, patterns, and certain materials made the collection very venturesome. Definitely a melting pot of creativity.

The models wore deep red lips–Very Fall– and somewhat resembled James Bond assassins walking down a runway after a car chase, with big bobs that look windblown. Overall, the collection, I would say is for the woman with a Dangerously-Chic tastebud. In Chadwick’s words the collection is, “A perfect woman in an imperfect situation.”
